The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Desiree Van Tassel is the President and founder of the University of Pittsburgh Chapter of the Leaugue of Young Voters. She is also an intern in tht Pittsburgh office of the League of Young Voters. She would like to increase the political actitivy of students in local politics while encouraging them to be engaged in politics at all levels.
