The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Jenna is developing a campus initiative aimed at ending Human Trafficking, especially sex trafficking. Along with various service projects within the two honor societies she is a member of, Jenna also volunteers with a community outreach program at the Veterans Administration Hospital that aims to combat obesity in local veterans. After completing the summit, Jenna plans on participating in activism during her semester abroad in Australia, and combining these experiences in founding her student organization on campus.
