The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Jared serves as the Pittsburgh Student Government Board Chairman. As chair, he conducts voter registration drives and publishes a voter registration guide. He is also the vice president of the College Democrats, and he worked on the Kerry campaign.
Post-Summit Goal: To increase voter turnout on campus.
